REGPOINT’S REVOLUTIONARY COMMUNICATION STANDARD IMPACTS DAILY ROUTINES IN HEALTH CARE

CEO Sophia Salenius invited to present the effects of mHealth to the EU Commission

Stockholm, Sweden (January 13, 2012) – The UK health services company RegPoint Ltd has developed a standard for communication between doctor and patient. The de facto standard is called DMS (Daily Medical Support). Their application based on the standard is RegPoint™, a mHealth service for disease detection and management system.

RegPoint™ is tailored for monitoring chronic diseases like diabetes, Parkinson’s Disease, cardiovascular disease, and other chronic conditions. It was the first true mHealth service and has been developed for over 10 years.

In recent years, mHealth has emerged as an important sub-segment of the field of electronic health (eHealth). Both concepts are inextricably linked and can be used to improve health outcomes and their technologies work in conjunction. While there are many stand-alone mHealth programs, it is important to note the opportunity mHealth presents for strengthening broader eHealth initiatives. eHealth and mHealth have yet to be integrated into mainstream healthcare despite their obvious potential for improving health outcomes and effective use of resources.

Therefore The Moving Life Project has arranged a workshop with experienced consultants at the EU Commission on January 18th. RegPoint’s CEO Ms. Sophia Salenius is invited to speak on the effects of mHealth.

The DMS standard has created high interest in Europe, India and the Middle East. One of the reasons for dramatically rising costs in health care is diabetes, which is wide-spread and on the rise. mHealth applications like RegPoint can make a big impact to manage the diseases and the socioeconomic impact of them.

mHealth in a Socio-economic Context” and is pleased that the EU Commission has taken the initiative together with the Moving Life project, to develop and implement the mHealth roadmap in Europe.
